Every Child Succeeds- Assuring Smoke Free Homes (ASH)

Every Child Succeeds (ECS) is a voluntary program in the Greater Cincinnati that offers first-time mothers support to help ensure an optimal start for their children. They provide centralized training and administrative oversight, which results in increased consistency, enhanced quality, and greater efficiency. Initiating 5A’s for pregnant women, ECS focuses on the pregnant moms within their program. The 5A’s include Ask, Assess, Advise, Assist and Arrange. When making the home visits, the moms are taken through the 5A’s to help determine if tobacco is a problem for them. This greatly helps for smoking in pregnant women to be identified and given the needed help. This initiative expects to reduce the tobacco use among pregnant women. ECS also has information available to day care providers in the ECS service area and provides them with environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) education. Every Child Succeeds service areas include: Hamilton, Butler, Clermont and Brown counties.
