The Inner City Health Care implements the Living in Control Program through the direction of the In Control of Tobacco Use Coalition of Greater Cincinnati. The Living in Control Program focuses on tobacco prevention and cessation programs for African American youth, adults, and pregnant women within the Cincinnati area. Priority neighborhoods include: Avondale, Corryville, Evanston, Madisonville, Mount Auburn, Over-the-Rhine, Roselawn, Walnut Hills and the West End. In addition to providing prevention and cessation classes, the Living in Control Program works to reduce exposure to secondhand smoke within the African American homes by enrolling families into their “Not in Mama’s House” program and by collecting clean indoor air endorsements within the communities they serve.
